Hamac reusable diapers are not thrown away.

***** 99.5% less waste — now that’s something to think about! *****
The health of our babies and the future we’re building for them are our top priorities.
That’s why Hamac diapers are eco-designed to be effective, safe, durable, repairable, reusable or resellable — yes, all of that ?
Just a quick reminder: You're going to change your little one around 5,000 times before they’re potty trained…
If you choose disposable diapers, that means 5,000 diapers to buy, throw away, transport to a waste center, process, incinerate or bury — not to mention wipes, tissues, cotton pads, etc. Even so-called “bio-based” or “biodegradable” disposables are still waste that needs to be treated. For the climate (and your wallet), that’s no longer acceptable.
A baby weighs around 3 kg at birth, yet produces nearly a ton of diaper waste before being fully potty trained!
But how is that even possible?
Some key figures to better understand
The disposable diapers of our adorable little babies represent 6% of total household waste by weight in France — the second largest waste item after bottles. A figure that gives pause for thought... If you’re unsure, ADEME (the French Environment and Energy Management Agency) conducted a study on the subject.
Disposable diapers account for an average of 40% of household waste in homes with a child between 0 and 2 years old.
There is currently no viable solution to make disposable diapers compostable, biodegradable, or recyclable — not even the so-called “eco-friendly” or “clean” options. Disposable diapers are a real threat to the environment and biodiversity: they will inevitably end up either buried (leading to water and soil pollution), incinerated (causing air and soil pollution, among others), or, in the hypothetical case of mass collection, would require enormous amounts of energy to be processed by an overly complex recycling system.
In short, disposables — why not, but only occasionally and less and less over time, or we risk giving our children a polluted and unbreathable future.
On the other hand, want to hear the most surprising fact about washing reusable diapers?
Even when taking into account the water, electricity, and detergent used throughout their lifespan, reusable diapers still consume twice less water and ten times less electricity than what’s needed to manufacture the equivalent number of disposable diapers.
That’s why our reusable diapers are truly eco-friendly — and urgently needed — because they respect life on Earth.

A solution against waste
In 2007, Florence, the founder of Hamac — an industrial designer, passionate about environmental protection and deeply in love with materials in all forms — decided to leave her position as an executive in a large corporation to dedicate her energy, heart, and ingenuity to developing the best reusable diaper solution for babies and parents, while doing her utmost to protect our future. This was the birth of the Hamac diaper.
Since then, thousands of parents have been won over, and together we’ve already prevented nearly 60,000 tons of waste from being created! Join us!
Today, our product range includes a variety of items that all help significantly reduce waste: classic reusable diapers and T.MACs, absorbent inserts, wipes, nursing pads, swim diapers, and more.
We encourage you to resell your diapers as your baby grows, or reuse them for your second child. And to go even further, we now offer a diaper repair service for those who wish to extend their life even more.
